The Mandalorian: Why Season 3 Needs To Be A Hit

A spoiler-free discussion.

The Mandalorian

To quote the words from another famous IP, “With great power comes great responsibility,” and it would certainly appear to be the apt description going into Season 3 of The Mandalorian. This is simply because, in merely a short span of time, we have watched the entirety of the Star Wars franchise go from being a bright star in the galaxy far, far away to become a point of ridicule, thanks in part to the horrendous additions of Episodes VII, VIII, and IX to the film portion of the franchise.

Aside from that, the recently released The Book of Boba Fett has not cast the franchise in any favorable light either. The show was, at best, a mediocre attempt to build a world around a character that should have sincerely been left in the background of a cantina on Mos Eisley. By the end of it, the most appealing aspect of the show came with the surprising yet unsurprising inclusion of The Mandalorian himself, stealing almost half of the episodes belonging to the show.

To not mince words, Season 3 of The Mandalorian has pretty big shoes to fill. This is because, as of the time of writing, it is obvious to point out that the entire weight of the franchise rests upon the shoulders of Din Djarin and his little friend Grogu. The show is the only new entry into the Star Wars universe that generates a high amount of viewership with each passing episode.

This is simply because the writing, for the most part, has been quite solid on the show. The characters are intriguing, the overall plot enticing, and it leaves viewers feeling that they are most definitely tuning in to a genuine and organic production worthy of the Star Wars brand. To put it simply, the weight of the entire franchise rests upon the shoulders of The Mandalorian, and if Season 3 was to show any aspect of failing to live up to its own set of standards, then there could certainly be a worrying sign that the fate of the franchise would be hanging in the balance.

Nevertheless, we are quite certain that the next season of The Mandalorian will do the show and the franchise justice, as we will still have the same charismatic characters to watch on screen, and the same production crew behind the scenes in both Seasons 1 and 2 to keep this ship afloat. It will undoubtedly be a difficult task to undertake: keeping the quality of the storytelling on an upward tick, but we do not see any other way for the franchise to spawn any new interest in its name should the quality begin to wane.
