A few days ago, an apparent leaked image from the Morbius trailer showed Jared Leto with a vandalized poster of Spider-Man in the background:
and since, rumors have sparked about Spider-Man making an appearance in the film. There was no confirmation on the authenticity of the image, well until now. Here's the official trailer of the film. Check it out:
Morbius is going to be the second Spider-Man villain to get his own film - the first being Venom - and it's likely going to the depict the story of how Dr. Michael Morbius, played by the Dallas Buyers Club Academy Award winner Jared Leto, accidentally turns himself into the Living Vampire, Morbius.
The interesting thing about this film is that Sony owns the rights to it, and are producing it, but reports have emerged about the film being set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), allowing a crossover with MCU's Spider-Man and the rest of the franchise. Maybe Disney and Sony have bigger plans for Morbius?
It will be interesting to see how the film performs, because if Sony manages to get another box office from Morbius, it would mean that Venom wasn't a fluke, and that they still have some power over Marvel cinema. The film is set to release on the July 21 2020.
