Disney+ is in its early stages of developing a Percy Jackson series together with the author of the fantasy book series, Rick Riordan. Rick and wife Becky made the big announcement via a tweet by Rick, and received an enourmously positive response from fans.

The series is expected to begin with The Lightning Thief and will encompass of at least all 5 books from the first series, Percy Jackson and the Olympians. In 2010 and 2013 respectively, we saw 20th Century Fox’s version of The Lightning Thief and Sea of Monsters, and because Disney now owns Fox Entertainment, they own the rights to the movies too.
In a follow-up tweet, Riordan metioned that both him and Becky will be very involved in the making of the TV show. We sure hope so.
Fellow fans of Percy Jackson, this is a huge win for us. For those who don’t know, Riordan also wrote two more stories from the same universe called The Heroes of Olympus and The Trials of Apollo, each in a 5-book series.
