Spider-Man Back in the MCU after Tom Holland Apparently Cried

Spiderman Spider-Man Tom Holland

In a segment of Jimmy Kimmel Live! last week, Bob Iger, CEO of Disney revealed that Tom Holland had called him up to talk about the whole Disney (MCU) - Sony fiasco. It was at the Disney D23 Expo at the end of August that Tom had gone backstage to meet with the Disney guys and ask for Bob's phone number. The crew allegedly refused to give him Bob's number, until they got in touch with Bob, to which he asked to them to get Tom to give him a call - and Tom did.

"We spoke and he basically made a ... he cried on the phone", Iger joked on his segment with Kimmel. "It was clear that he cared so much. Naturally, we care about him so much. He's a great Spider-Man, isn't he?" he added. He said that he understood how Tom had felt about the deal going south, and how the fans are taking it pretty had too, "I felt for him and it was clear that the fans wanted all of this to happen. After I got off the phone to him, I made a couple of phone calls to our team at Disney Studios, and then I decided to call the head of Sony. I said, 'We have to figure out a way to get this done, for Tom and for the fans.'"

Disney and Sony have since managed to work their disputes out and have confirmed at least one more Spider-Man movie. Sony has held the rights to the friendly neighborhood hero since 1999, and fans are adamant on having Spider-Man be a part of the MCU. We hope that the two companies are able to craft out a deal that keeps Spidey and Tom in the MCU for a long time because clearly Tom Holland isn't just your regular TV superhero, he is also able to charm giants into work together.
