Right. So we’ve all seen the official trailer of The Batman (2021), and I believe that we are all in agreement - that hope has been restored for DC and the movie is going to kick butt, also that Robert Pattinson is the perfect cast for the vengeful hero of Gotham. If you haven’t seen The Batman trailer though, you can check it out here, along with the trailers of Justice League: The Snyder Cut, Wonder Woman 1984 (WW84), Black Adam, Gotham Knights, and a teaser reveal of The Suicide Squad.
Now, the cast.
Batman - Robert Pattinson
Alfred Pennyworth - Andy Serkis
Commissioner James Gordon - Jeffrey Wright
Also a guy who has been through the grind, the Golden Globe winner is presently best known for his role in Westworld, where he has played a main character - Bernard Lowe - since the beginning of the show in 2016. He will also be the first person of color to suit up as the honest James Gordon, which is deemed to be a big step forward in the industry. I guess we can say that Jeffrey *long pause* is Wright for the role.
Selina Kyle - Zoë Kravitz
In The Batman (2021), Kravitz will not be Catwoman, but rather Selina Kyle en route to becoming Catwoman. In recent years, Zoë Kravitz has taken on so many parts, and I dare say that none of her characters were poorly portrayed. Selina Kyle’s shoes will be a big pair to fill, but I think ‘Leta Lestrage’ will be a good fit, even in complementing Pattinson’s Bruce Wayne. At least for a few more Batman films.
The Penguin - Colin Farrell
The Riddler - Paul Dano
Personally, I’m a huge fan of Paul Dano. I think he is an amazing actor. In fact, he is one of my favorite actors in recent years because whether main character or supporting role, Paul Dano has delivered every single time, and it is his ability to take on really weird movies such as Swiss Army Man that makes me believe he is a chameleon, and all he needs is the opportunity to adapt and fulfil. Paul Dano as The Riddler, no complaints.
Other supporting roles in the film are crime boss Carmine Falcone who will be played by John Turturro, and District Attorney Gil Colson by Peter Saarsgard. The Batman is expected to hit the big screen in October 2021, granted we don’t see anymore delays caused by the pandemic.
