Star Wars fans, rejoice! A few days ago, Disney+ was officially launched in the US and Canada, which means that it was also the release of the first episode of Jon Favraeu (Iron Man)’s The Mandalorian. Led by Game of Thrones’ Pedro Pascal, The Mandalorian apparently got off to a really great start!
Here's what we know so far:
The events in the show take place roughly after the Return of the Jedi, and it features a Mandalorian - Boba Fett like warrior/assassin - who like Boba, is a hired gun. We also know (and are really glad) that The Mandalorian is at least not a completely silent character. It would be painful to watch a silent warrior fight his battles as the protagonist for an entire season. Not much information has been revealed about The Mandalorian yet, but here's a video of Pedro accidentally(?) revealing the bounty hunter's name, among other characteristics:
Was his name meant to be revealed?
Episode one lasted 39 minutes, which is about 3 minutes shorter than your average hourly show. However, episode two, released only hours ago, came in even shorter with only 27 minutes of playback. Fans aren't too happy with the length of the episode partly because Disney has decided that although Disney+ is a streaming service, the episodes will only be released weekly, and mainly because episode two was fun but a little too damn short! That's gonna be a whole week of wait and a whole lot of pending information.
The Mandalorian is set at a more "adult" and darker tone than Star Wars, and is expected to appeal to a wider range of audience. With the feedback and reviews from the first episode, production for season two has already began. Disney is pretty optimistic, and so are we!
