From her first appearance in Iron Man 2 as a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, to six movies later kicking-ass alongside the Avengers in the Avengers: Endgame movie, Natasha Romanov aka Black Widow has proven herself worthy of a standalone film. However, the new Black Widow film is not going to be a hero origin story.
Marvel Entertainment released the first Black Widow trailer on Monday, and fans are saying that it looks better than expected. Check it out:
Well, it does look great, however, the one thing that fans aren't so happy about is the protagonist character in the film, believed to be (there has not been any official announcement from Marvel) none other than supervillain Taskmaster -
- not because it's Taskmaster, but rather because of how he looks in the film. Here are some opinions that fans have shared on Twitter about the supervillain, and honestly, it's hard to disagree:
The resemblance is uncanny!
Maybe he really was inspired by the Power Rangers?
He is not wrong though.
This is what Taskmaster originally, or should look like:
Well it's too late to change now, but from the trailer, it looks like the MCU's Taskmaster knows what he's doing, so we're hoping that he is going to be more than just another generic looking, black-suited villain.
Black Widow will also feature other A-list actors such as David Harbour who takes the role of Alexei Shostakov aka Red Guardian, Rachel Weisz as Melina Vostokoff, and Florence Pugh as Yelena Bolova, all three who were a part of Natasha's origin story. The timeline of the film is believed to be shortly after Captain America: Civil War, and before Avengers: Infinity War.
Black Widow will kick off Phase 4 of the MCU, and is set to hit the big screen in May 2020.
